A board-certified family physician, H. James Brownlee Jr., MD joined the Family Medicine Residency Program at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in 2016 as a part-time faculty member. Previously, Dr. Brownlee served as chair of the Department of Family Medicine from 1992 to 2011, after which he served as the medical director of the Monsour Executive Health Center at USF Health until 2015. He is currently a professor emeritus in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine (Tampa).
Dr. Brownlee completed his medical training at State University off New York Upstate Medical University (Syracuse). He then went on to complete his residency training through the Williamsport Hospital Family Practice Residency Program (Pennsylvania). He completed his teaching fellowship in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Miami, followed by a geriatric fellowship at the Geriatric Education Center of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill).
He is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
